Fun Fact 2:Â
This past Saturday, the comic genius, Dick Van Dyke turned 100 years old. That makes him part of a very exclusive group. Not for reaching the age of 100. That isn’t all that rare. What IS rare is that at 6 feet 1 inch tall Dick Van Dyke will be one of the tallest people in human history to live to 100. Jay Jackson, who runs Abacus Global Management and a longevity expert, notes: “Based on extensive research, there have been only a few verified cases of men over 6 feet reaching 100.”
Jay explains how it is Dick Van Dyke is still singing, dancing, and even appearing in Coldplay music videos at 99. Here’s his advice:
1. Exercise regularly. Van Dyke is in the gym at 99. What’s your excuse?
2. Practice good mental health. Let go of anger, hate, and resentment. They’re literally eating you from the inside…
3. Find purpose. Van Dyke stayed active in his career and personal life through his 80s and 90s because he had reasons to get up every morning.
4. Cultivate joy. “I never wake up in a bad mood,” Van Dyke says. Make that your practice.

Quote I’m pondering:
“I was only going to say,” said Scrooge’s nephew, “that the consequence of his taking a dislike to us, and not making merry with us, is, as I think, that he loses some pleasant moments, which could do him no harm. I am sure he loses pleasanter companions than he can find in his own thoughts, either in his mouldy old office or his dusty chambers. I mean to give him the same chance every year, whether he likes it or not, for I pity him. He may rail at Christmas till he dies, but he can’t help thinking better of it—I defy him—if he finds me going there, in good temper, year after year, and saying Uncle Scrooge, how are you. If it only puts him in the vein to leave his poor clerk fifty pounds, that’s something. And I think I shook him, yesterday.” – A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, 1843Â
