Fun Fact 3:Ā
Only 4 of the top 10 largest American university endowments are public, with A&M (where I earned my undergraduate degree), ranking 8th. Interesting fact: According to this chart, 17% of the income from university “endowments” is spent on “other purposes”. For example: If the Harvard endowment generated a 10% return on their endowment figure ($5.2 billion) and 17% of that income was spent, that would be $884 million. Where is that going?
