The housing demand is continuing to show record lows. Mortgage applications are down 41% from same period in 2019. Pending sales in June fell YoY, 2nd worst June reading ever and Google searches for houses are falling.

Remote work’s impact on the U.S. housing market has completely reversed. During the pandemic, America’s biggest remote-work counties saw some of the fastest home price growth. Now many of those same markets are leading the downturn. In contrast, the areas with the lowest remote work rates have the highest home value growth.

The gap between the list price for homes relative to median household income is continuing to widen across the nation. Some faster than others.
